Tympanometry evaluates the tympanic membrane and middle ear by measuring pressure reflected from the eardrum. This test helps detect middle ear pathologies such as middle ear effusion, ossicular discontinuities, otosclerosis, perforated tympanic membranes, Eustachian tube dysfunction and the status of pressure equalization tubes.
